MEDUSA WMC SHOW US YOUR RIDE 2015

As seen in issue 199 of 100% biker

It has been a few years since I have been to the Medusa WMC Show us your ride event, which is a big mistake on my part.

This has to be one of the most relaxed afternoon events you can go too. There was a very warm welcome, a great venue and a great selection of bikes and clubs from all over Kent and surrounding areas.

The blustery and rainy morning, which made for an interesting trip especially after I lost the map on the way as it blew off the tank, turned into a glorious afternoon.

Now I missed the pub, I know this shocks me too but the detour did at least send me past some of the best bluebell woods I have ever seen, which put me in a great mood for the start of the show, doubling back following several bikes I found the Flying Horse which looks very much like a converted chapel.

The field behind the pub was steadily filling and I found a slot for my trusty steed opposite the brilliant “Beartrap” the only bike I know of with a garden fork as a seat, allegedly it is very comfortable. .

Interesting vehicles kept coming in including some neat trikes which included the interesting juxtaposition of the enormous V8 Cobra trike being ridden by a diminutive rider while the tiny VW trike being ridden by a six footer well it looked me smile.

Several drop dead gorgeous trikes from the long and low Suzuki which won best chop, to the old school cool of a springer Harley which won best in show, a lovely triumph trw, best classic and rd250 winner best under 350.

The show also had a feel of a village show, with some interesting stalls in place, including a great cake stall, bash-a-rat and other games. And the band kept playing some great songs which amazing ranged from ABBA to The Darkness and onto Nirvana an eclectic mix and fun .

Having helped put on events before I know how the running of an event can take over, but the girls of Medusa WMC got the balance just right, remembering that this is their party too and seemed to be enjoying every moment of it. (I won’t mention the dancing or tree climbing incidents) it was also a very child friendly affair.

The club chose the winners of the awards and then they were lined up in the pub garden, which is a great way for people to see who actually won and this also made for a short and sweet awards presentation.

I really do promise that I will not leave it so long before returning to this brilliant event
